two or three of the Somerset officers and Wells, but no sign of the C.O. So we decided to wait for the Battn to come in. When it did arrive, behold Colonel Waddy at the head thereof! He had apparently gone off with their Adjutant for a drink & ??? has wafted 3 other officers up in a ???. The C.O. had rejoined his Battn considerably after I had passed them!

Somerville & I gave them as much information as we could to help them getting onto Barracks. Then I went back to the Mess for tea.

After tea I spent an hour or so pilotting people around Bungalows & then had a sleep!

Wednesday Jan 19th

Spent the morning handing over to the new S.S.O. and explaining things to him. He is a man called Mackie - quite a nice fellow. He seems to understand things pretty well but he will have a rotten job with a clerk who is new to the game as well as himself.

Tennis in aft with Tupper agst Fisher & Melbourne. Quite the best games I have had for some time.

A & B companies came in to day from DumDum?? & Barackpore & have gone onto camp withthe rest of the Battn. Consequently there was some considerable amount of "bucking"?? to be done.
