Thursday Dec 30

Spent the morning as usual waiting mail.

I got my "Taylorman" by this last mail. We have now got 1008 OMTS on the war list. We have had 48 killed, 67 wounded, 8 prisoners, 4 missing. The brighter side shows 1 V.C. 3 D.S.O. 4 DCM 1 Legion of Honour 12 mentioned in dispatches.

2 men I knew quite well have gone. One J.N. Lewis the other P J Stanger. Two more who left very soon after I went to M.T. have gone too - Paremore & Hind. Lewis was up at John's, a year ahead of me.

There are several wounded, among them 2 fellows who were in the ?new class? with me Pickering & Petch. Pickering is a prisoner. I hope he gets through.

Had a game of hockey in eve. Scouts v. Gunners. Drew 2 all.

Friday Dec 31

An unexciting morning. Certain amount of work as usual.

Went out for a ride with "Bast"? at 3.30. Went along past the Punjabi lines then down to & across the river, along the island practically following the Cross Country track of last Sunday then home. Both our ponies were "pulling" like fun. Mine, because he hasn't been out for 5 days.
