Monday December 6th.

Range again this morning. Fired the 400 again. The gun behaved itself alright but No. 2 let me down so I got 5 spaces. Better effort than last time though.

After that we proceeded to throw guns about. We did hundred Fire practically to day, without Firing though. It is rather interesting firing over a hill at any object you can't see and laying your gun by means of instruments.

Lamont and I took on Lisle and Mitchell at Tennis again to-night. Good games though we lost.

Tuesday December 7th

Fire Positions 7:30 - 8:30. The Practice 14! - ! It is a cheery game. You start as No. 1, with the Tripod and trot about 100 yards when you mount the gun and - as No. 1 - fire a few rounds until you knock down a metal plate 1 ft square (Range c.550) Then you change over and become No. 2. You do another 100 yds or so carrying the gun this time. Then you mount gun and the other chap fires it. General Post again, you become no. 3 and toddle along with the ammunition and the spare parts box for a 100 yds or thereabout when you fire again. Then you go back to where you started from. This time you go forward as Section officer, which mostly means 3 100 yd. sprints but as you are carrying nothing is isn't so bad. Then if there is time, as there was today, you go back "Da Capo" and by the time you finish you don't object to a little breakfast.
