remaining there.

Lecture was pushed back to 11.0 as we were a bit late finishing the Before Breakfast work.

Wednesday Nov. 24.

Demonstrations to-day. One was the diff. effect of Frontal, Oblique and Enfilade Fire. We had 30 men firing our targets representing 16 men. We fired "Rapid" for 1/2 min. The results were

Frontal 6 Men hit Total hits 6 Loss 37 1/2%

Oblique 10 " " " 26 " 62.5 %

Enfilade16 " " " 60 " 100 %

We also discovered that throughout, the flank targets got off most lightly. That may partly explain the casualties among officers because they always get in the centre of the cannonade as nearly as possible and it is the centre that stops the bullets. Moral - Get on the Flanks! The M.G.O. is usually on the flank of his guns - so I am well off!

Orderly Dog today. Just my luck! We've got a holiday today! Still 0.0 isn't very ordurous here. I went round Cookhouses at 10/0 and then I had finished until 11/0 pm. Spent the morning making up arrears of notes.
