12/30. Read in afternoon till tennis. Played one set with Higgins Jackson & the C.O. & another -- much better one -- with Beach versa Jackson.

As usu M.G. 6.30. Had a long chat with Dykes at the hospital from 8/30 to 9/30 on various ????.
I went down with Potts to get some stuff for Dhobi Itch. Williamson is likewise afflicted.
Went to tea with Mrs. Stuart. Padre & Mrs. Dycke were there as also the C.O. & Manley. We stuck till nearly 7.0 hen adjourned to the Club for Badminton.

O.R. 9.30. Toovey's appointment to the I.A.R.O. came through today. He is appointed to the Guides. The C.O. said that he had not really intended appointing anyone to the guns until he saw whether Williamson's application to come out of India with us went through. But the horse question arose. If no M.G. officer, the horse wd. have had to have been sent back & got again when one was appointed. So he is giving it to me; pro tem at any rate.
Hockey match in eve. A very scratch officers team v. the Specialists. We drew 1-1.
Had an hour with Toovey "talking of many things" from 7.15 to 8.15. He wants me to take over his horse from tomorrow.
