Tue June 8.]

Then along came the lightning & lastly rain. It did rain too. The lightning was incessant & lit up the place like day. The thunder was far away & sounded like the continual roll of breakers on the sea shore. On the whole it was a very fine & quite new experience.

Wed. June 9. ???TABLE??? Max:- 88, Min:- 76 Rain???:- nil

Got up quite early to ensure that the S.S. Office was more or less clean - despite yesterdays sand storm - & ready??? for the D.C.M. at 6.30. I found Miller??? there before me & all well???. Waited for Vickers and laid a couple of letters??? before him, as ordered by the Bde???. Then went off to watch the Trench Diggers.

[Wed June 9.

in the aft to get some things off, as I couldn't fit in this morning.

Played tennis in aft with Beach & Hickling. ???TABLE??? Max 83 Min 80 Rain. 1.35"

Thur June 10.

Had a "European" this morning. Went to the Cy.??? but not to the S.S. offices. About 10/30 it began to rain Cats + Dogs - it was really a far-off thunderstorm. The sky was a wonderful blue black color. It rained on + off till 12/30.

PLayed tennis in aft. on the hard courts. Had fours with Vision??? v Cotton??? + Williamson. Games were 8 - 6. 7 - 5 . 6 - 3. 3 - 6. The last set was almost in darkness.
