Mail in last night after Mess.
Church Parade as usual 6.45. Cotton was O.C. and was so flustered at turning up 1 min. late that he quite forget to tell off the Bn. and made a hopeless messup of the words of Command.
When I went to the S.S. office after Brekker I found it open which it had no right to be, and I also found a pile of foolscap was missing. Cheery! So long as they don't get into the safe I don't mind much though!
Slacked in a.m.
Went to tea with the Nickers in aft. had a jolly time and left just in time for Church in the eve.

S.S. office & Parades as usual.
Drew on new Short Mk iii Ryles to-day. We are the last Company to get them. They are quite nice weapons & have the fine adjustment sight. (i.e. to 25 yds. )
Riding School. 5.30.
C.E.M.S. meeting 7.15. A very good discussion followed a paper by the Padre on "Noncomformity".

We were supposed to be having night operations tonight but after they had begun a chit came round collecting all the companies to the Bn. Parade Ground to see the Persian Gulf Draft off. The C.O. spoke a few words to them and then after a cheer they left to the strains of the Old Brigade & the Deathless Army - from the Band. Lamont & I went with them as far as the Nullah. The R.F.A. turned out in force &
