156 Thur Mar 11 Little to do in the O.R. in the morning. So after going round the camp with Franken to help him with the plan we have to send in to the Brigade, I went out to see the Battn. Unfortunately I turned up just as operations came to an untimely end.

Only 12 o/c the C.O. turned up bringing with him the mail. Two letters from the Mater this week -- one last weeks. I had one from Stephens as well; he is at the front lucky dog. Also 2 "Punchs" arrived from A. Lucy.

From 12.30 to 2.30 I had a "shut-eye" & then the C.O. came along about orders tonight. That, with an orderly who came in with the Men's mail & other things, about 4.0 kept me busy till 6.45. Then Mess. Fri Mar 12 Very little doing in the Orderly Room this morning & went out with "A" Corp while they were Field Firing.

There were 3 groups of targets 20 in a group & the men were divided into 3 sections. Each section fired at one particular group. We did not do an advance as we should have done but had only one fire position. The Corps averages or rather 5 were A:- B:- C:- It finished about 8.30. From that to 11.0 I slacked.

Had a little work in the Orderly Room in the aft. just to keep me occupied between Tea & Retreat.
