Reveille 5.0 am. Got Breakfast over rapidly & then had a busy hour in the Orderly Room preparatory to sending off the Cyclist Orderly to Dinapore. He left about 7.45 eventually. From that onwards I seemed to have a busy time doing nothing much. That seems as far as I can make out, to by typically the Adjutant's job.
From Lucnh (11.30) till 2.30 I had a snooze & then I went over to Tea.
By the time that was over the Orderly had come back & I was in the Orderly Room - including mounting the Guard at Retreat until about 6.45.
Mess at 7.45 & then blissful sleep.
Wed. Mar. 10
Did not turn out till nearly 6.0. Had to wait for the Hospital people before the orderly could start. Conseq. he didn't leave till almost 8.0.
I finished up in the O.R. about 9.15 & started to read M.R. gave that up about 10.0 & started writing home.
Aft Tiffin the Cycle Orderly came in which gave me a little more work until Tea Time. After Tea I went out with the Major over the Field Firing Course. I just got back from that in time to mount the Guard at 6.5 instead of 6.0.
Orderly Sgts came up at the same time and issued orders.
The rest of the evening I spent in writinghome, with an interval for Mess.
