147. Fri Mar. 5

Were lucky enough to find a first class ghorry waiting. It was quite ruppy??? driving and there was a very heavy mist which is one of the most genuinely English things I have seen in India.

At the morning Parade we had No. 4 out as Fatigue men to the other 3 sections for V.T. As it was stoking up we came in about 11.30.

Paid the Co. in the aft. in this instalments. The first instalment was at Arrah at 2.0 and then we jogged in to No. G Bungalow where at 2.45 we paid the Specialist A's of No. 4 Sec.

From 3.0 to 7.30 with an interval for tea I did my best in a highly successful way to make up lost sleep!

148 Sat. Mar. 6.

As the Comany was busy in fatigue work I put Hickling on to look after No. 4 and slacked myself. I developed 3 films, 2 of which were Benares - 80% succesful - very.

In the aft. I tried my enlarger with bromide. Result rules more satisfactorily than Gaslight. I tried it on a negative of "Addiscombe". I felt quite homesick watching it gradually come up in the dish!

From tea to 7.15 I was busy working up the Diary and doing a few odd jobs.

At 7.40 I called forth in a ghorri in full spendores??? of a Dune. Jkt and a Black Tie to call for Lionel Oren? Hewlett en route to the Wolfershires. We got there at 8.15 to the minute. There were present - in the language of a minute
