132 Sun Feb. 28]

so I gave them permission & saw a party leave to fetch it.

After Breakfast I read in the Mess till the Mail came in. A letter from Pater, a paper from Mater - & that's all!

10. visited the Company again, arranged a few odd things & saw the disinfecting process started & then back to the bungalow again.

Wrote till lunch time.

Slept till Tea time.

Wrote till Church time.

Went to church at 6.30. It was but a scanty congregation as was only to be expected with 200 men knocked out.

Now that they have altered the service to 6.30 it just leaves nice time to change for Mess

132 Mon March 1.

No letter as yet from the Mater. But the ways of the India P.O are strange.

I have been torn between two opinions to-day as I have now practically two companies to look after. Hickling was on the Range, so he was no help.

I sent No 4 on a Route March with "G" as a matter of fact "G" did not go on the Route March after all, but that mattered not, as Lionel looked after them for me.

The isolated men were still busy this morning disinfecting: so I had more or less a slack time.

In the aft I instructed No. 4 in the use of the Mekoneter. I held a sort of test to see whose name to send in from No. 4 as Mekoneterist. Decided on Wallis G.T.
