130 Sat Feb 27 I wandered along to the Company two or three times during the aft and unfortunately ran into the C.O. at Arrah?? about 6.30. He was working himself up into a pretty spot?? because no officers were there. Apparently a Col. Sgt is an ornament nowadays!

Well I saw our people safely under Canvas & then went along to change for Mess.

After Mess I had to see my C.E.M.S. reps. to cancel the Corporal's Communion to-morrow. I likewise saw lights out etc for Higgins.

I went along to Arrah? & found the poor advance party just coming back -- very tired. The recall message had not reached them until they were almost at Mumier??? Consequently they had a tiring 12 miles back, with tied bullocks. A bullock on does 2 m.p.h. at the best -- which is a slow walk. Then when you get sides of carts resigning & bullocks politely declining to go on & just slipping their heads from under the yoke --it all takes up more time & causes more bother. However, I saw them all safely to bed & I've no doubt they slept. Sun. Feb. 28 Church Parade was "off" for "A" Corp to-day. I was not sorry as I am not overfond of the Parade Service. I spent the morning just messing. The programme was rather thus:-

Before Breakfast. Visited the 13 ??? Found all their bread was locked up at Vic. Bcks -- which is out of bounds
