124 Tue Feb 23. Gymn this morning. had to run it on my own again.
We held our Trenches against the Scouts attack today. The chief feature was the magnifique control of fire. Fisher remarked "when you started firing I thought it was a muddy machine gun opening on us!"
The aft parade was J.D (ok use of ???Mikometers??? for a few selected Ptes). Our band came back from Calcutta yesterday and played at the club from 5.0 onward so I went to listen to them. I think they have improved since they have been away.
Roe gave his third lecture at 6.0. He was, as usual, v.g.
Went back to the club after it & played Badminton till Mess.
Rec'd a chit from the Adjt at mess tonight Thus:-
"The C.O. has detailed you to remain here for the first week when we are in camp. You will then be relieved by 2nd Lt. Chickling.

Parade this morning entirely V.T & J.D. Had to go on the Range from 1.0 to 3.0. Actually I didn't leave till 4.30. Wrote in eve.
3 guests tonight in mess fellows from Banki. One man had a violin. So after the band had finished we made a cheery noise until 11.45 pm when we cut for the door, for fear of the 5 Rupee rule.
