Hickling took the early morning parade today so I didn't turn out???.
We did an outpost scheme today. The idea is that a Brigade is resting on the N. Side of the Sar??? & has sent out a half Battallion to find an outpost line on the Nullab.??? We have been allotted a line on either side of the Khagol??? road bridge and find two picquits.???
I went out with about 8 men to arrange them. We sent in a couple of flag truce to see what they would do with them. Likewise a deserter and a friendly inhabitant with information. They scuppened??? the last 3 alright but the procedure with the first Flag of Truce was thus:

Wed Feb. 4 Then, about turn, & clear!!
When we attacked we had first to snaffle an inconvenient sentry group which was in rather an advanced position. We managed that alright & then could do nothing except push right on. Just as we were going to change the "Cease Fire" went???
In the afternoon we went out to discuss the posting of the snaffled sentry group. We did not raise much discussion, but decided finally that the place for the sentry was up a certain time???. He was absolutely invisible at about 20 yds & there was beautiful cover for the other 3 men of his grouop just 2 paces in rear.
Started writing letteres in the evening & then slacked.
