72 Sat Jan 16 to stop them. I don't think the band were best pleased at having to wait. As one of our men remarked about the Big Drummer "'E ain't arf tikin' it aht of the Big Drum!"

We arrived at Arrah at about 9.40 & I made tracks for the Mess & had some supper. Then bed at once. Sun Jan 17 Went to H.C. at 7.30 this morning and from breakfast to Ch. Parade was extraordinarily busy writing menus. After the Ch. Parade had just time to change & get to the Mess as the earliest guests began to arrive. About 12.50 M.E. turned up. We had about 24 guests so that the total mess was about 42. Things went by very well I think. The band played very much better than its average form. After lunch we sat of the verandah listening for a short time. At 3.20 or so H.C. rose to go & of course all the rest of the world followed him.

I went straight back & had Tea. Ch. at 6.0 & then Mess at 8.0. Mon. Jan 18 Range at 6.30. When I got back after breakfast I found we had moved into our new bungalow. It is quite a spacious affair. Four of us are sharing it. Lamott? being the fourth. We have a bedder & a dressing room each -- except Lamott whose ??? SKETCH ???
