224 Sat Jan. 16.] about 12.25 and marked to Dighe??? Ghat???. There we embarked on the good ship "Ardross" She is a ten wheel paddle boat with a flatbottom. When we reached Banki??? they took some time getting in. First we bumped the bank head on. Then two natives proceeded to thump in two stakes to which we tied up. Just as they had put out a plank for us to use as a gangway the idiots moved the boat. Plonk went the plank into the water and out came the stakes & it took about 1/4 of an hour for us to manoevoure??? back as we were before. However all things have an end, even ??? and we eventually swattered on to the Mardan??? in great style. The C.O. was awfully pleased with the way we came in. The Bankiporeites??? once more remarked on our physique they say it is ??? better then that of a Regular Battu???! We piled ames??? in one corner & proceeded to get the sports group with all speed. They were pushed through rapidly and whereas we started an hour late we finished only about 10 mins overtime. The Wilson (Mrs & Miss) are staying with Col Sunder & were both there in the officers enclosure. The ??? & Lady Bayley turned up too. Lady Bayley presented the Prizes at the end. The events to eve:- 1. company Tug of war (which "C" won) 2. 100 yeds. 3. High jump 4. 150 Old Boys (over 40) won by Sgt. Drumms??? 5. Hurdles 6. 1/4 mile
