Mon. Jan 4 Musketry started today. I had to turn out at 5.0. My half Coy.??? fired from 6.30 - 8.30 & it takes nearly 20 mins to get to the butts - on a bike. It is regular trials riding over half the track to the range. We did 5 Practise Shots. Grouping @ 100. 2nd class Elem. (Bull's Eye ???) At 8.30 the ??? fired and at 10.30 B. Coy??? started. I and Sec 1 had to be in the butts to mark for them. It is a non gallery range so it is quite a job. 215 [Mon Jan 4. At 1.0 we knocked off & sec 4 took on. Played Tennis in the aft & then did nothing in particular till Dinner Time. I hear from Townley that the old Delevara was condemned at Bombay???, but had to sail eventually with 200 or 300 women & children aboard. She put into ??? with ??? damaged! but proceeded.
Tues. Jan 5. Range at 8.30 to.day. Snapping??? qt 200. At 10.30 we began to mark ??? off at 1.0. At 3.0 i went up to see if I could get the Telephones to work. They seem to work fairly. It will be a great improvement if we can use them.
