Just before we left Mr Wilson's brother this wife came in rather unexpectedly. They have just been home on leave & arrived in Calcutta again on the ??? (B.I.) on the 23rd. They had arranged to come here for X'mas & Mr Mrs Wilson had ??? they had not heard. He had wired but the telegram was not delivered. So it was a pleasant surprise.
Curiously Mr. Jack Wilson – our host – is nicknamed “Bones” while his brother, who is “Billy Sahil” to ??? is called “Rags!” Rags has had a very knock about life. He was 4 yrs ??? the most. He went thro' the S. African war & found him a wife among the ??? then he joined the police & got a ?? finally in India. In between whiles he has been to odd places like Hong Kong and he did a year or two as an ?? in S. Africa to say nothing of Indigo planting in India.
All I know of Bones' history is that he was an Indigo Planter & when that went south got a Government Billet.
By the way Indigo is looking up in India now very much & the lucky planters who are still at it are getting just about six times normal prices which will mean ??? to a good many.
