186. Wed. Dec. 23. till it was dark, ie., about 5.30. Then we had some music & after that we started on jig saw Puzzles. These things really are most fascinating. Beach & I got hold of rather a snorter? & consequently did not finish it tonight. We had a little more music after dinner. Thurs Dec. 24. Spent a very solid hour & a half after Breakfast in writing home. We had some exciting sets of Tennis in the morning & then after Tea we played again. In the excitement of this afternoon's sets the sole of one of my shoes drifted loose so I finished the set in socks after vain endeavour to tie it up with string. After Tennis we puzzled & musiced till Dinner Time & after Dinner we had Progressive Games. - Potato Races. picking up seeds with knitting needles, etc. - Beach & I sata up till about 11.45 trying to finish our Puzzle but weren't successful -- though we haven't much left to do. XMAS DAY Fri. Dec. 25 About the funniest Christmas I have spent. The temperature was somewhere about 75 deg to 80 deg in the shade this morning. We got up a bit earlier viz. 6.45 & had ???????quite early. At 8.0 we left the house in two carriages
