156. Mon. Dec. 7 The morning was occupied in settling in. Beach & I have both changed Bungalows so that now, we and Hickling are all in the same one practically. ????? SKETCH??? In the aft we had a tour of ????. We found the English Church & the Dinapore? Club -- where we played a game of Badminton. The Club is not a bad spot. There are 3 Tennis Courts there. Also a small but fairly decent library. Mess is at 8.30. (in Blue) so by the time it is over there is very little to do except go to Bed. Tue Dec. 8. Started work to-day. Parade at 9.30 -- which lasted till 11.0. We gave the N.C.O.'s some voice Production tests. The grass plot we drill in is about 250 yds by 100. Poor Watkins was taking his section & as they were getting rather far away yelled "About Turn!" No result! Section's still getting further away. "About Turn" Section marches gaily on. "About Turn!" Still no result. Still they continued to recede from him. So he gave a last despairing effort & nearly bust his lungs -- but he reached them.
