Sun. Dec. 6

together goodness ???DIAGRAM???-DINAPORE 6/12/14 only knows. The rest of the three companies are, they say scattered about in small detachments all over the place. That's cheerful for them!

About 7.45 we started loading kit bags on bullock carts. And about 8.35 we moved. I was i/c A.Coy as Beach was i/c the Battn. as C.O. &??? Hewelt drove. We marched for 3 miles along a very dusty road which reminded one of Long Valley. There are trees on either side &- for a considerable distance- water as well.

About 9.30 we found our new home & by 10.0 the men were comfortably installed. The barracks are lofty airy and clean looking. Absolutely adapted to the country I should think too.

Sun.Dec.6.

At 10.30 we reached the Officers Mess & about 11.0 when the other officers had dribbled in began dinner. (only A Coy & Specialists are in Amah??? Baracks the rest are about 1 mile on, in Victoria Barracks. The Mess is about 1/2 way between the two.

I got back to my bungalow about 12.0. It is quite a spacious place & reminds one of nothing in the world so much as of Stafe??? scenery. There are doors everywhere. The rooms are lofty: & the wall paper is whitewash. You also get the "Enter on Eastern Servant" business when your bearer glides in silently. The bed is absolutely in the middle of a room about 20' square: which produces a weird effect.
