140 Wed Dec.2 Strained our eyes anxiously for land this morning but in vain. Had a busy time in the morning doing nothing. Sunday rumours about Babbage & so on but nothing came off them. At 12.0 we sighted India at about 2.30 we came to a anchor and waited for Customs people to come abroad. We produced our vouchers for the inspection. They did not want to see our bags at all! We are not disembarking until 5.30 tomorrow aft. At 9.0 we moved into the dock it was a ticklish business getting through the dock galis. We had not more than 8' to spare on either side of the ship & we very nearling made it 16' on one side & 0 on the other. However existed by
