Nov. 29 And now they unravel by continual travel. This problem set by fate. For now to Bombay with us go they And there no doubt they'll wait When far they've wandered they'll then squandered Bully Beef and pickles rare Then this earth they'll quit and their souls will flit Like the man of Berkeley Square. Pt. AB Derrick D" Company Middx.

The above effusion was the best Middx Effort in a competion for the best poem descriptive of the voyage. A Brecknock did a parady of the Ancient Mariner which took first prize but this made a very good second.

Mon. Nov. 30 At Sea

A very placid day though not altogether slack. The Deet ??? Quoits final was played to-day Cotton and Morfan came out winners agst the CO and Adjt of the Brecknocks.

Tue. Dec. 1st We are now due to arrive at Bombay about midday tomorrow so we celebrated the event in champagne @ dinner tonight. I think we had about 5 obttles between 8 of us. Hickling was decidedly merry at the end of it.

I spent the rest of the evening packing.

I have got to "superintend the removel of the Baggage from the Ship tomorrow so I shall probably be the last Middx officer to leave here.
