100 Fri. Nov. 13. H.T. Dilwan Awake and listen to my cabin bunk rolling from the side of the cabin to the ladder of the bunk and pulling up with a nasty bump at each end of its' beat. It is quite exciting work sorting things out when you do get up.

About 6.0 it began to calm down and so I got a little sleep till Breakfast time.

The sea still preserves its blue despite its angry mood though it has become a very dark blue now.

Parade at 10.0. Watches in 20 min.

Went on as Officer of the Guard at 12.0. Of course it promptly began to rain. However at 12.50 it cleared - in time for me to do my first round in the dry.

Had a little trouble on the After Troop Deck with men who refused to stop smoking after being warned by the sentry to do so. Smoothed things out without having to place anyone under arrest.

Company parade 2.0. Lectured by Martin on the "Causes of the War". 2.40 - 3.30. N.C.Os Semaphore. They are coming on well. They will be able to send quite well soon.

Martin tremendously pleased with life to-day: he has persuaded my Wellingtons to shine - for the first time in history.

Tea - Dunne busy writing letters home.

Went to bed - semi-dressed - ??? - lately after dinner As my turn of Guard comes from 12 -4. Did not get any sleep till about 7.00 The cabin was so jolly hot.
