Fairly larger & much gilded shaft.. He was of ??? received with a Royal Salute. Then he walked round. He went in ??? the ??? but behind the officers!

As he passed behind me I heard someone (probably one of the staff remark) " ??? big lot of officers ??? men)" The COS were called up & he told them that we must not be disappointed because we were going to India, that it was a very important job & that we were serving our country by going out there just as much as if we were going to the front. We then marched past in fours giving ??? left on the way and back ??? Porado Grounds where we dismissed.
Raid the Company this afternoon. Brach did not ??? up at all. Made ??? Divided it between JCH & myself. We both tossed whether we should keep it or give it to the Belgian Refugee Fund. Both lost.
Five officers came down from the ??? this aft. To take over the people we shall leave behind. (We can only take 800/1000 to India.) Eve had quite a ??? drama at mess ??? in their ??? we all – or most of us – trooped off to the Cinema. ??? nothing to shout about.
