I found a lovely little bit of country where we could cover a corner of road about 500 yds away and quite a long strip quite close.
So we divided our forces and put 1/2 to watch the bend & half to watch the road. Letting the point through we got the vanguard in fours in that bend, and at the same time our other rifles collared the point. Actually we waited for the mainguard as well I scuppered them but really we should not have been able to have done so.
Beech said he thought we had taken the wrong road and got lost! He couldn't spot us even with glasses.
When we got to our area (point 66) we did an attack:(from the haystacks to pt. 66.)
We gave the men a go with their entrenching tools. They hadn't used them before.

In aft. we had a Physical Training Parade.
About 5.0 I set off on the carrier of Vesian's motorbike. I soon discovered he was not exactly an expert. We started with a slight wobble which eventually took us to a brick wall & landed us both on the ground.
Then when we got on again more wobbles but not very serious- though somewhat disconcerting.
Finally at a corner there began huge wobbles which culminated in my interviewing the Kings highway more intimately than I enjoy.
I succeeded in cutting my knee rather badly & in scraping a considerable amount of skin from the right side of my face: to say nothing of a black eye and badly swollen lips. Relieved of me weight Vesian saved
