on it. After a peaceful journey, though hauled in an undignified manner by a Goods Engine! (The train was 15 coaches) we arrived in Oxford about 1.10 am.

Sun. May 17.

O.T.C people had leave to keep eve instead of a.m chapel. I took advantage of this. After "Brunch" Rob & I went out punting. We got to the parks at 5.0. when Dicky embarked & I disembarked, so as to keep a Chapel. Robinson cut & went on punting: the attraction was a Miss Kitty Morgan whom Dixon had met here through the Booths & with whom he went out in the Punt two or three days last week.

After Chapel & Dinner, Capes & I went for a walk, returning by Motor Bus from Magdalen Bridge just in time for Balliol. As usual v good. 'Cello was about the best I have heard, & the feature of the singing was 5 unaccompanied Folk-Songs!

Mon. May 18.

Called on V.P. at 8.20 & got leave for the day, then left by the 9.12. Dicky & Paten - friends of Dixons - were on the train + two of Dicky's Sisters & Mrs Paten. They got into my compartment so we had a pleasant time!

They are all scotch & had gone
