220 Tue May 5
in aft. Did quite a fair amount of Heb. Prose in the punt.
Back for tea. Origen Soc in eve. Rawlinson -- the man who viva'd me (Mar. 24) - read a paper on "The case for the Judaizers??." I rather fancy he recognised me. He looked twice & sort of half smiled! His paper was quite good & discussion pretty fair. We adjourned about 10.35.
Wed May 6
Punt in aft. In eve I wandered round collecting for the Missions to Calcutta & Central Africa. Only one refusal. He (Lascilles) objects on principle viz on the ground that the savage is happier uncivilised!
Got £1.6.0.
Thur May 7
Short punt in aft. Worked in eve.
Fri May 8
Had a thunderstorm to-day. So worked on and off all day, as rain forbade punting. Relieved the monotony in eve by finishing "Lorna Doone."
Sat May 9
Worked more or less in am. Cut Locke at 10.0 as I got up late!
Stayed in working &c in aft.
Went to theatre to "Charlies Aunt" Second time I have seen it (First time was at Bournemouth years ago) It has altered little since then & is rattling good. It nearly brought the house down. "Brazil -- where the nuts come from!"
