164 Wed Mar 18.

Had the misfortune to be orderly to-day. Not so bad here as at a Jun Div Camp. Got off part of the morning parade which was pair work. When I did arrive I only had time to get one message through.

At 12.45 Capt. Ware gave a lecture on the MotorCycle reserve affair. One is apparently made a cpl of the RE with 8/6 per diem for running the bike & cpl's pay 2/-. Total 10/6 per diem. Have to do 15 days training p.a. part of which may be on maneuvres. On mobilisation one is to be presented with a brand new bike! If they would only do that on joining I would be there. As it is I must wait till I get a bike. Then I shall join I think.

Parade 3.0. Had to wander off to an old Roman camp about 5 miles away, a confounded windy place! We had 7 men & had to send 3 ways, consequently most of the afternoon when we were chiefly occupied in getting a DX message of 99 words through, I had to send answers and read out to two people who were transmitting to the other two stations. Naturally they were never at the same point in the message & I had an exciting time. At 5.50 we changed stations and spent till 9.0 pm lamping.
