Had a letter from the Mater to day in which she says that Grannie is very weak but rather better than she had expected to find her. I must go down at Easter if poss.
No rowing this aft. The spare four seems altogether dissolved now. Blackledge has crocked so Johnstone has gone in as bow & Lester Garland has changed to 2. It is very cursed because it means that had I been able to swim I shall have been pulling instead of that wretched man Johnstone who is really no use to anyone. However let's hope for better luck next year!

Jac. paper in morn: got on pretty well in it (without books)
Went for a short ride with Robbie in aft who returned to tea with us in order to help us devour some Devonshire Cream which came this morning. We did not really need any assistance but unfortunately he was in Dicky's rooms when it arrived.

Did not go out all day except to Balliol in eve which for a change had all undergrad performers. It was quite good. This is the first time I have known an entire absence of professionals.
