Did a College Crawl this afternoon visited New College. Saw their Gdns with the bit of Old City Wall which is the best tree they have in the place! Saw their chapel which is certainly fine especially the reredos though I am not keen on the Reynolds windows. I do not think their peculiar colouring an improvement. Could not get into the hall. Went on from there to All Soul's. The best thing there is the Chapel which has as fine a reredos as, & one similar to New College. Went through B.N.C. which is barely worth a visit. Then Oriel. Their first quad is rather fine. Could not get in to their chapel but saw the hall which is no great shakes. Then Merton. The oldest, that is about all there is to be said for it. Its quads are much like other people's only smaller. Its new bldgs are not striking. Its chapel we did not see. Corpus has a sundial in its front quad. Unique and doubtless decorative.
On our return I found a horse and lorry with a packing case on it, in process of being screwed up. Steven meeting us crossing the quad informed me that my Piano had come. Two worthy fellows who were screwing up the case looked disappointed when I sailed by then with a cheery good afternoon. One came up to tell me that the key of the Piano had not been sent through
