at 8.0 but as he had a meeting at 8.30 it did not matter. It is remarkable how Oxford men love to talk about the old place. We hardly talked of anything else. It was the same when I went to the Newtons (on Dec. 13) After leaving Mac Cassey's I went home fo the Mater & escorted her to St. Peters to an L.C.U. meeting. Fr. Magee (St. Marks Hamilton Terrace) gave a fine address on The Mission of the English Church. He mentioned incidentally the influence of National Temperament on Religion and remarked that an Englishman would never take kindly to elaborate ritual that would delight an Italian.

A good discussion followed the paper. Some one asked him how far the Catholic Movement would advance in England in his opinion. He gave as the limit vestments lights & prob. incense. What more could one have?

Referring to the advance of the movement in the North one chap said that from his experience he could say that Bradford bode fair to equal Leeds and that all over the north there was the same advance of Catholic opinion.
