for Gertie Perkins who was to meet Pater in the office and then come on to spend the evening with us at Harrow. She arrived about 10 to 6 and we caught the 6.12 home.

I showed the slides in the eve but the lens of the lantern wanted a good clean so that they were not so satisfactory as they should have been.

Sat Dec 20

Went to town with Gertie on the 9.55. Showed her round the rooms then escorted her to a train at Blackfriars. By the time that was done it was time to return home.

Went to the org. in the aft - Pater went with me. We found Broadie and a pupil in possession. The latter did not seem to be a particularly bright specimen. In fact Broadie said to me afterwards "either he's hopelessly careless or else he hasn't the brains. I rather think it's the brains that are wanting!"

Spent the eve addressing xmas cards.

Sun Dec 21

Went to the 8.0 at 11.0 on the hill.

In the aft there was a Bible Class Reunion at the Mission House arranged by Mr. Lloyd who asked Father and I to go. We went accordingly. I was requisitioned to play the piano. Wayland Joyce brought his flute. We had several carols. A lesson - which
