Got to Liverpool St at 3.15 with 20 min to wait for the 3.35 to George La. Dixon meet me at the station & showed me the way to his domicile. Leslie was home from school. They have given Golly an arm chair to-day and Nairn has granted the school a half in hounour of the event. (I wonder what sort of a man they will get in his place?)
Soon after tea we walked over to Leytonstone. Called at the Youngs. Was introduced to the famous Doris. She is a buxom wench and a very nice girl indeed. I admire Dicky's choice! Though did not get head over heels in love like he is.
He was performing at a free Concert at Harrow Green (nr Leyton) so Doris & myself accompanied him. He recited very well and was encored both times. We wandered back to S Woodford via Leytonstone - of course. Got in eventually about 11.50.
Wed. Dec. 17
Walked to Leytonstone in the morning in the morning. Saw the town then as a matter of course want to Wallwood Rd. Dicky was rewarded by the reappearance of Doris about 1/2 hour after our arrival, so that he saw her for 1/2 hour!
