51 1st Ba. A.P.W.O. Yorkshire Regt. Upper Topa Morree?? Oct 4th 1916. My dear Mother & Father As I am feeling a ?? "fed up & far from?? home" I can't do better than answer your letters. There a thence of these - your two months ?? from your ??? Last week I said I was cabling to say continue address Rawal Pindi: Well I saved my 3 chips because the Husain Abdul Scheme is "on" again and it is settled that we are going there. So it is a case now of "Continue address Husain Abdul". My present address may surprise you. I am having 10 days with the Yorkshire Regiment and a hours Gen ???. The Yorkshires are one of the few Regular Battalion's still in India. I am not impressed with the Regular officers they have remaining. They are an unsociable crowd. The four K.A. people they have had sent to them from England are very much better, though they seem to keep rather to themselves. There is also a Middlesex fellow here who has only been with them 10 days, but I gather that he feels much the same on the subject as I do. Still perhaps it is hardly fair to form judgements like this after only one day, but I am usually pretty accurate with my first impressions of men.
