Tuesday - July 11 Went up to ??? about 10.30. Spent the rest of the morning making a list of ??? kit. I did not enjoy it overmuch. After Tiffin - Range??? Fired at 400, 500 & 600. It is a ??? day's journey to get t o the 600 Firing Point as it about 1000 ft down the ??? on a very inferior path. However we managed it. Wednesday July 12. Range this morning - started "Qualification" today. Fired 1,204 practices. Shooting is not extraordinarily good. Got back in time to miss a Lecture on Mountain Warfare by Billy Jackson & in time for Tiffin. Played 3 sets of Tennis in the afternoon with ??? against Lionel??? & Lamont???. We won the lot. Then at 7.0 Football against ??? platoon - the people who knocked my gunners??? out of the cup. I was playing left Half and had the ??? outside Right to look after. He needed some watching & runs like a hare! We lost 3-0 but our defence was not up to its usual form.
