I think the real reason is that his ideas of the limitless depth of his masters pocket didn't seem to agree with mine somehow. I was a bit afraid of it when I saw his "chits". However the fellow I have got now is doing very well and I think will stop. The "servant problem" is more acute in India than at home I think! We hear Tovey??? is back in India, invalided. He has seen a good deal of fighting apparently. as he has been Brigade Machine Gun Officer & they have used them for every battle show there has been. He is I believe at present with an uncle near Madras but hopes to get a "Depot" job at Pindi. So we may see something of him. The Padre is - I am afraid - beyond hope, even Lionel Hewlett has given him up! He doesn't seem to have any tact at all we have started a C.E.M.S??? branch but at present we are keeping him out of it. We have told him so quite frankly.
