apricots which were the next best thing + soon there were no apricots, which was bufotuate??? as we found out afterwards we were to have had apricot Tart for Dinner! AFter about an hour the Pack Puies??? + the lurg??? looked for Drinks arrived + we were soon setting down to Tiffins. After Tiffin we tried to get a sleep but instead of sleeping we were kept uncomfortable busy killing flies. After a while we gave up the ida of sleep and after dangling our feet in the river -which was icy cold + vuey??? naturally so I suppose as the source of the river is the melting snow- had an early tea. After Tea we with the attentive eifie??? of the Shikans we??? us cleaned up the Biuduks preporatony??? to a start at 11.59.pm. (midnight) Actually we were woken up at 9.45 + got moving at 9.55. The scene of operations was the path along which we had come in the morning. There is a branch of the Suid about + for under + 2-3ft deep which runs along the hillside + along its length a narrow path. This was the one we took. I really think the idea of two staid looking natives carrying rifles like babies forllowed by two Pakils??? all trying to walk without making a sound (for fear of waking the baby!), would have struck us this morning as
