88 first visible building is a large house which, facing the lake, is flanked by very large chena trees. The Garden is in a series of terraces again and on one of these we had a tiffin under a huge chena tree. The garden is very pretty & we lounged there till after 3.0 when we returned to the boat going right across the lake en route. I am still disappointed in the Lake though these gardens make up for much and I daresay that when the lotus flowers are in bloom the lake itself must become a blaze of colour and is the very fine. Going through the Dal Darwaza on the way back was a case of shooting a young rapid & ws very faintly reminiscent of the water shoot at the Exhibitions! Thursday June 15th We stayed in Srinaga this morning, visited the P.O. & Cox's but found no letters. Soon after we got back to the boat "Banerafi" arrived with two "???duks" One is a single barrel .400/.450 which I took & the other a double barrel .500 which Lamont took.
