for the presentation of the Shabkudha??? medals. They were mostly native officers. There was one D.R.I.??? man who I think ahd the D.C.M. About 14 in all. 6 N.I officers 1 B.I. Tommy & 6 or 7 N.I. NCos or men. After this came the march past and I think it went quite well. Of course when "in" one of these Shars??? it is very difficult to judge what it looks like. We marched straight back to our lines after the march past and then ad a stand by in the mess as the G.O.C. had intimated that he woud see Janitorial??? officers in their messes. About 12.0. he came along. He was very nice & he said that he liked the spirpt of the troops & so on - then said he thought perhaps the chief thing lacking was a certain lack of conficence on all part of N. Cos officers. In talking to Rogers (Arnic???) afterwards he remarked - as they all do - on the physique of our battalion. Had a laze in the afternoon Sunday April 2. Went to the 7.15??? this morning. Quite a fair number there though I suppose that out of the number of troops in the garrison it was a very small percentage.
