Tue Aug 3.] and jolly well deserved to. However we may buck up yet. Wed. Aug 4. A year ago today we declared war. It seems ages ago & yet the time seems to pass like lightning! I wonder if it will be finished by next Aug 4. We had a Church Parade at 7.0. Higgins was taking it but all officers were pleasant???. Now Spooner??? has gone to the Gulf we are minus a Padre. Moore??? from Baneki??? took the Service on Sunday but he didn't come over today. Hewett & Vickers took the Service between them. We had a special service - which I expect is universal. [Wed. Aug 4. Started off to go to the Club tonight - but watched Hockey instead. No. 4 were playing No. 5 on the Club and after watching them for a bit Johnson & I went to the Hospital ground to watch No.P.V??? specialists. It was a very hard & a very fast game: and had to be abandoned for Light with Score 0.0. We had a Guest night tonight in Mess. No real excitement as everyone cleared to a Concert by the Terriers after it. The concert was jolly good. They gave almost the identical programme that we heard at Mussourie???. It didn't finish till 12.20. There was one jolly good verse on Johnson getting fat since he'd been in the officer's Mess & one
