Tue Sep 22 Has been sent back to the depot because he is only 17 ½. Beach was left "Sam's sub." Hence my shift. The companies now stand: - ???DIAGRAM??? Some have vacancies for about the subs. Unfortunately, this will near my changing my ??? from the ??? to the Vicorage: (swapping with ??? in fact) Still that won't happen til tomorrow. Wed. Sep. 23 Went to pt. 66 in our area today. I discover that A has an excellent Sgt called Balis: ??? talkative, ?? self-assertive, but a good sergeant. We did some distance judging & checked it against a 6” map and then physical drill finishing up with an attack. Beech amused himself by giving me a little problem on the ground but I came out successfully. The sgt parade was Company ??? Things went pretty well. OnN.C.Os ??? by Beech filled ??? from 6 – 7 & then it was time for Mess practically. By 7.30 I had moved: so I am writing this in Sr Michael's Vicorage. Rooms very comfy but the people are not so ??? as the ??? : too stiff! esp the Mrs.
