Tue June 23. Laid a phone wire in this morning from Camp to the wireless tent about 1 mile away we had to bury the thing for the last 300-400 yds as it was over a field in which cavalry exercise. Aft. Pair work. Eve.Lamps 9.0 Wed June 24 Phones a.m. & p.m. laid them in the morning: during this process I had the pleasure of climbing a tree. Then in the aft I worked the exchange till about 4.30 when we reeled up & I had to climb the same tree to take the wire down. Wireless people had a scheme from 3-12. We had lamps at 9.0 as usual. Thur June 25 A selected eight of us did a "scope" pair work business this a.m. Base "Tunnel Hill" two pairs sending to two distant sites c.1 mile away of which I + Sellar were one pair. Quite slack.
